Achilles Tendon Injury

Welcome to my well, my life, on Friday 24th of November 2023. i got an Injury. This was not an ordinary injury. it was the Achilles tendon tear. the worst of the lot. on my left leg my tendon gave way with a noisy rupture that could be heard by everyone on the pitch and the people on the bench.

I went for Surgery on the 1st of December and from there on i have been on the road to recovery.

I was put on a cast boot for about 2 weeks

at the end of week 2 on the 14th of December of the same year, i was removed the stitches and placed on a https://www.djoglobal.com/products/aircast/airselect-elite Aircast boot. I started my PT (Mutuuu) the 21st of December. Here i did some heat therapy, some ultrasound and i did some plantarflexion without any doxiflexion. On the 27th Dec i did another session, with steoo, at this point i was week 3 weeks and a few days post Op. I was asked if i can put my foot down… after this. put minimum weight as I learn to let it touch the ground gently. On the 29th I was able to see the PT (Irene) and she asked me if i have ever stepped on the ground with the boot. very strange. I did step on the ground and was able to take a few steps holding the rail.

I removed the boot after 9 weeks and on the 2nd February i was placed on a sport shoe with a heel.

I started going to the PT right after getting out of the cast and have been going ever since.

i am now on my week 14 and a few days at the moment.

I found this group on face book a life server for me. https://www.facebook.com/groups/10320629484
